Swisher is strutting his stuff to New Yawk
It has been awhile since my last blog and even though the 2008 baseball season has officially ended, ALOT has happened!! First I would like to congratuate the Phillies on their WORLD SERIES win. I didn’t watch that much of the series to be honest, but it was really nice to see the Phils and the Rays play. It was really nice to see Jamie Moyer win a ring. He has been throwing for a long time and definitely deserved a ring for the many years he has been playing in the majors. Even though the Rays did not win the series (like many predicted), they still should be very proud of themselves for getting to the series and for officially putting the their team on the competitive map after many seasons of true under performance. Second I would like to discuss how upset I am over the Swisher trade. I thought Nick would have at least gotten another shot this year to really prove his worth, but KW just shipped him off for some prospects. I thought Nick brought excitement and fun to the team– he will be missed by many fans as he definitely was a fan favorite. I do wish him the best in New York and hope he can get his bat hot again. I know most Sox fans will not BOOOO him when he does come to town with the evil empire (aka THE YANKS). I am a bit upset because my beautiful (and very expensive) Swisher jersey is now practically useless LOL !! Third (and last) I would like to express my concern over the possible trades of Jermaine Dye and Bobby Jenks. I understand that KW wants more speed on this team, BUT these two players are still very valuable to the team. Jenks wasn’t as sharp this past year as he has been in the past, but he still was considered one of the best closers in the majors. We all know that Dye is getting older, but he played exceptionally well both offensively and defensively this past year and probably can keep doing what he is doing if he keeps healthy (and he appears to keep himself healthy year after year ). IF these two players are traded, then I will REALLY be a SAD SAD SOX FAN. It will be interesting to see what will transpire in the weeks ahead as the leaves drop off the trees, the nights remain long, and the snow will eventually drop on the cold cold ground.
