that is what I read in my fortune cookie after I ate up my Mandarin Chicken Bowl at Panda Express ( I love me some Panda – after I make my weekly shopping trip out to the burbs I gotta get some Panda )!! I shrugged it off and went ha ha ha … those things aren’t real (but certainly are amusin). Well maybe, just maybe it was kinda right this time in terms of my boys and in life. Before I get to my boys I just hope that those of you who read my blog in the Chicago area are okay . That STORM last night was brutal. I live near Bridgeport and have for all of my existence. NEVER , NEVER have I heard the sirens go off like that. I rounded up my family and even invited my neigbors into the basement. My neighbors have two young daughters and they were quite scared. The rain just came pounding and pounding down. The wind was howling, the loudness of the thunder was deafening, and the light show in the sky was glistening. The roughest patch of the storm took about an hour to pass through the city . However , the entire storm didn’t seem to stop until 2 a.m. I hope to not experience something like that again for a long , long , time. Now let’s talk baseball — The baseball powers that be took some mercy on the boys and let the TWINS lose against the American League West bottom feeders (Seattle). The Twins were up 6-0 until the bottom of the 6th when their storm hit suddenly and unexpectedly. It was a 10 run innning that just didn’t go their way. Perkins seemed to be having a bright and sun shiny day but then the clouds hovered over him and a violent storm set in. The highlight of that inning was that he gave up a Grand Slam to Ibanez and it just got worse from there. The final of the score was 11-6 and yes … we have a .1 lead over the Twinkies as of Tuesday morning (aren’t statistics amusing )?? Well it is a very microscopic lead, but hopefully the day of rest for the boys and this recent development can get THEM motivated to play exceptionally well this homestand and significantly increase the lead. Let’s hope they let the sun shine in !!!
