serious withdrawl already !!

Everyday has felt extremely different since the season ended for my beloved boys. The air is so chilly and brisk. The colored leaves are falling off the trees.  When it is 7:11 p.m., it is pitch dark and I don’t hear the fireworks going off in the background signaling the beginning of the evening game.  My handy pocket schedule is absent from the kitchen table and there is NO anticipation in my tummy when I drive to work and for about a brief 30 seconds think about who the boys are playing for the day! The 08 World Series really doesn’t interest me.  I haven’t caught one game.  As a fan of baseball I know I should be watching,  but The Rays and the Phillies really don’t engross me.   I know HISTORY could be made if the Rays indeed win the World Series.  They are a very young and inspiring team that play with heart and determination, but they simply aren’t my boys.  The Phillies too are young and exciting !! No one even expected the Phillies to be playing .  They basically were a team hovering under the radar and showed some true grit and drive toward the end of the season. I am sure that the fans down in warm Tampa Bay and in the city of brotherly love are really happy and excited about their teams being in the series.   Soon the series will be over and there will be NO baseball at all lingering in the states.  Sports fans will solely be interested in hockey, basketball, and football.  Not me … don’t get me wrong as I enjoy watching those other sports, but they are not BASEBALL !! To me they don’t hold my interest as much. I will be anxiously awaiting news about transactions from the off season via online forums and the newspaper. I will also be counting down the days until spring training !! Last night as I was on the couch watching t.v. (dealing with a bad bad cold right now), I got to watch 2 entertaining baseball movies.  Mr.3000 was a fun movie with Bernie Mac (rest in peace you big Sox fan you ) and Fever Pitch was a realistic fiction movie displaying the 2004 season and then the World Series victory of the Boston Red Sox.   I guess I should find other baseball movies to watch to help the withdrawl.  I expect that my feelings willl get WORSE , then get better as the calendar moves to mid February.
